About California State University Fresno
California State University Fresno began as the Fresno State Normal School with the mission to educate teachers. It is one of the oldest campuses in the California State University system, established in 1911. Initially, the campus was located on what is now Fresno City College’s location. The school moved to its present location in 1956 and became Fresno State College in 1949. The school joined the University of California system in 1961 and, in 1972, the name was changed to California State University Fresno, although it is still commonly referred to as Fresno State.
Today, California State University Fresno operates the first commercially bonded winery in the country. Students have also pioneered research into water development and water-saving techniques for use in agriculture.

California State University Fresno Application Requirements
Undergraduate students who have not earned college credit after high school graduation must provide official high school transcripts as well as official ACT or SAT scores. Only junior standing transfer students are accepted and they must have at least 60 or more transferrable semester or 90 or more transferrable quarter credits. College freshman, sophomores and those seeking an additional bachelor’s degree are accepted. Transfer students must have a GPA of at least 2.0 and must be in good standing at the last college or university attended.
Applicants to the Master of Public Health must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all undergraduate work and must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. They must provide official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended as well as official GRE scores. Three letters of recommendation dated within the last six months as well as a letter of intent are also required.
California State University Fresno Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition for undergraduate courses at Fresno State is $2,088.50 per credit hour. Tuition for the Master of Public Health is $2,505.50 per credit hour.
Financial aid is available and all students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify.
